Rocky back home after his Surgery

Just picking him up at the Vet

So my buddy is back home and hopefully will heal up good the next couple of weeks and gets back to his normal self. My son is happy to have him home too, he was really concerned about Rocky last night and today.

Rocky had to go into the Vet early, he was dropped off at Lexington Pet Clinic last night so they coud perform the surgery on his ear today.  Here’s my previous post(s)

Basically his swelling was so bad that he needed to get it done as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the severe swelling and due to the fact that he had been shaking his head and probably scratching at it for the last week, he ended up getting an ear infection which in turn ruptured his ear drum. So the poor guy is on Meds and drops for his ear for about 3 weeks.

I am starting to think that I should have had the surgery done right away instead of waiting,  and maybe then his ear drum and infection would have been a non issue, lesson learned I suppose. Just glad to get it taken care of I guess and to have him back him.

  1. Oh poor boy! I am sure he will bounce right back! He is young and healthy. You will be amazed how quickly he will return to his old self. They always look so sad when they have the cone on their head. It is like, humilating for them.

When Sammy had his eye removed and neutered all in the same surgery, it never slowed him down! I just started bawling when we went to pick him up from the vet. She had prepared us about how he would look…it didn’t help much! But as soon as he saw us with his one eye, that tail never stopped wagging!

He wasn’t much for wearing the cone and we had to remove it right away. With only one eye now, his depth perception was way off and he was running into everything!

I know Rocky looks sad right now, but he will do just fine. He has a caring dad who will take good care of him. He has Caleb and Riley there for him too! He is a very lucky dog!
